How to prevent yourself from catching the flu?


  1. Wash your hands with soap often
  2. Keep up with your fluid intake
  3. Keep your surrounding clean
  4. Get enough sleep to keep your immune system up to task
  5. Isolate your toothbrush from other’s
  6. Ensure sufficient intake vitamin D via foods, supplements, or sunbathing
  7. If you’re living with an infected person, consider antiviral drugs such as oseltamivir (Tamiflu), zanamivir (Relenza), or peramivir (Rapivab)
  8. Get your annual flu shot (flu vaccine)
  9. Quit smoking


  1. Get too close to sneezing and coughing people
  2. Touch communal items like escalator handrails, ATMs, restautant tables, public computers, etc
  3. Bring your child to public playgrounds
  4. Go to events where public gather in mass
  5. Visit hospital when there’s no absolute need to
  6. Linger in airports unless your life depends on you flying to other places
  7. Weaken you immune system by staying up late or getting overwhelmed with stress
  8. Touch your eyes, mouth, or pick your nose
  9. Get agitated by sensational news which may or may not be true
  10. Decide to be an antivaxxer

What if you’ve already caught the flu?


  1. Increase you fluid intake
  2. Turn on the air humidifier
  3. Get plenty of rest
  4. Cover your mouth when coughing and sneezing
  5. Wear mask to prevent spreading of the virus
  6. Also wash your hands frequently
  7. Monitor your body temperature very closely
  8. Eat more nutritious whole foods containing fiber
  9. See a doctor when your symptoms worsen
  10. Take the prescribed antiviral drugs as advised


  1. Got to work or school
  2. Work yourself out as in to sweat the flu away. Your body will be under enormous pressure
  3. Spread your virus by coughing or sneezing without concern to others near you
  4. Use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) to treat fever for fear of other complications
  5. Wear thick clothing to overcome chills else your body temperature will increase further
  6. Get cold baths as your body will respond by raising your body temperature
  7. Eat spicy foods as they may exacerbate inflammation
  8. Take antibiotics unless presence of bacterial infections detected
  9. Drink alcohol or highly caffeinated beverages as they increase urination and risk of dehydration if you don’t replace it with enough fluid
  10. Rely on unproven alternative medicine
